BUT THEY'RE SIZE 13!!!

Well... I am officially a sneakerhunter. I just shelled out my first $ for kix that are no where near my size!

These New Balances were released today by Solebox, and only 300 pair were released worldwide. What they did was they started in the morning releasing sizes, starting at size 8 and going up to 13. So I log in around 3pm forgetting the time difference in Switzerland I believe. So by the time I show up, only size 13's are left.

Dissapointed, I leave the site, and then it hits me: "WAKE UP STUPID! YOU CAN STILL GET THEM!!" I'm a size 10, but I had no intention of wearing them anyways. So I log back in quick and snag a pair of size 13 boats.

What a great deal! I'll sit on them for a year or so and then sell them for a nice price!

...but they're still 13's...

where did you get this "utopic view" of Brazil? Was it based on the beauty of it's flora and terrain or the tourist come to brazil carnival, Giesle Bundchen ads? Surely, you had heard before of it's abject poverty, prostitution and the glue puffer children who live in the shanty towns and slums around Rio's train station and the city itself. Incredible the power of advertisements? Even if those societal woes were not affecting Brazil, that our men would fantasize about the women there..sad!

I agree that its sad.

But I think the presentation or the source of this utopic view of Brazil and is very prevalent in our society. I'm not excusing the view, as I think it is not only waaaay off the mark, but is also dangerous.

The way we gratify money, objectify women, and celebrate power overtly in this country almost sentences every child raised here to be plagued by these "evils".

I do think the first step to getting rid of them is to admit that they exist, which is what happened in my mind...

As sad as it is...
